Re: languages in the bible.
The new testament was written in Greek, the lingua franca of the western world in the first century.
Old testament is more complicated. It was mostly written in Aramaic (an older form of Hebrew), but I believe that some parts of it, in particular prophecy written during the diaspora (e.g. Daniel) that were written in Chaldean.

I didn't wikipedia this yet, so I might be totally wrong. Now I'm going to go wikipedia it.
